An absolutely lovely antique French handwoven linen pillow case has pretty floral decorative embroidery and pale blue and off-white stitched monogram "WC".
 
There are seven hand-stitched button holes with seven mother of pearl buttons (six matching, one unique) to close at one end near the initials. The style of the letters suggest this is at least 100 years old. Gorgeous!
 
The hand-woven linen is light and fine, with lovely natural variation in the weave and a minor spot which does not detract. A beautiful piece for any room, this would have been a small bed pillow originally.
 
Overall dimensions 43 cm wide x 70 cm long, allowing a pillow/cushion insert of approx 43 x 67 allowing for the button closure. We have photographed this with an off-the-shelf feather inner measuring 40 cm x 58 cm, which sits only slightly small.
